Many Thanks and Tough Times
Well, a might thanks to all of you. Over the past two days there have been over 900 downloads of Letters to the Editor, Vol. II.
I’ve received some some wonderful comments and emails and I’m grateful. It’s always tough to put yourself out there when you release something new. It’s harder when you’re the only person that’s had a hand in it. You can’t blame anybody else. So thank you for your kindness and your open ears.
And many, many thanks to the folks who have financially supported me/the project. It’s very appreciated and very helpful. Tough times for us musician folk, so all the support is gratefully received.
Speaking of tough times for musician folk, Cliff and Danielle Young have spent the past week in Houston with no power and all sorts of other craziness. We get sporadic word from them, but it’s insane down there. Your prayers are welcomed.
They aren’t able to leave town at this point to do the Caedmon’s show this weekend, which is very understandable, and so yours truly will be taking the reins. Always a little scary, but it should be fun.
I guess that’s it for me today. Feeling pretty overwhelmed and pulled in a million directions, but also feeling like there’s a path around here somewhere that leads out of this wilderness. I’ve got a few non-negotiables, very few actually, and the rest is whatever it is. “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
Lord, give me faith, and thank you for these friends walking with me.

i will pray for you.
a few of the needy people in our life are coming to the forfront right now and after dropping $800 into my car yesterday i’ve been humming all day “where does my hope come from”?
dude (i’m saying this to me more than yourself), we have salvation and a god who loves us and have been blessed with so much. an amazing family, great friends and a wonderful church family. we’ve got the good news and we should be singing “this little light of mine, i’m gonna let it shine”.
i wish i could be at the caedmon’s show to hear you do more of your songs like i miss those days, canada and good things always are.
i’d even bring you timbits again. heck i’d even bring you some poutine.
take care abd god bless.

I’ll see what I can do about bumping that number up a bit. Arm-twisting. Whatever it takes.
I am enjoying the “…short…record”, for sure. I’m planning on determining per-song ratings-for-dollars here in the next couple of days. It seems like an enjoyable way of deciding how much moolah to put in your pocket. Or is that on Sadie’s bottom?

You’re at 950 downloads.
I wish you were at 950 donations.
[Oh yes, I am going to guilt trip you people. Geof Morris : Andrew Osenga :: David Plouffe : Barack Obama.]

Geof, you’re forgetting how the guilt trip procedure works: If you don’t give to Andy, then you will NOT BE BLESSED. God only blesses those who give, preferably those who “sow” more than $1000 to be anointed with…. whatever, I forgot how it works….

by the way, andy, nice work on the new EP!

That’s awsome that so many people have downloaded it in such a short time!
Might I suggest that for Letters III you do only vocals and kazoos? Granted you’d have to use a different kazoo for each song but who knows what kind of options there are….there’s gotta be baritone kazoos available right?

Andy,
Great work! I think “Letters vol 1″ is great and “Letters vol 2″ is even better (I love the electric). Well worth donating $ for. So, will there be another t-shirt contest down the road (hopefully)?
Also, I wish you the best with the Caedmon’s shows coming up. I’ll keep you and the Young’s in my prayers. A friend of mine who lives in Lake Jackson, TX just sent me pictures of the damage at his house caused by Ike. It helped me realize how much damage was caused by the hurricane (I haven’t seem much news coverage surprisingly) and it made me also wonder how Cliff, Danielle & family are all doing. So, I’ll be sure to be praying for you all. It’s comforting to know that we have a Savior who loves us and how every thing is in God’s hands…no matter what the problem (hurricane, stock market…) we can bring it all to him.

Wow, I didn’t even think about the implications of Ike on the Youngs. I’ll keep them in my prayers, and they’ll be missed on Saturday! If you need some backing vocals, I’m pretty familiar with the Caedmon’s corpus. Just sayin’ . . .

Love the new EP. I’m listening to it now for the first time. I love how honest the songs are, and how you included the PDF about the inspirations for all of the songs. I love reading your blog also (although I don’t really ever leave comments….) Thank you for your honesty Andy it encourages me I know as I’m sure it encourages others as well.
